Survey Says - Part 2

So the compilation of the responses to the survey was posted recently on the Engage Montco site (go to the bottom of the site and click the link to download the PDF of the report) and the responses are promising. A total of 691 people participated in the survey and the majority of the respondents supported preservation of the structure. While that is not entirely surprising to me considering our initial petition signing drive, it is satisfying to know that the message is getting through to the county government that this building is worth something.

Something that was of interest to me is that more people outside of Norristown responded than Norristown residents. Most felt the front portion (the castellated part) was the historical element that should be maintained, and most understand that the project will be costly. At least that is what I am getting from the question on why it should be demolished. Yes, it will cost a lot of money to rehab the structure and have something else there, but as has been stated in the past things of importance cost money.

Now that the public has weighed in, the Request for Express Interest will be sent out, as shown below in the timeline slide that was in the county's presentation back in April.

Stay tuned as I am sure this phase will be very interesting.
