RFEI Launched

At the Commissioner's meeting yesterday, the resolution to Advertise the Request for Express Interest (RFEI) on behalf of the Planning Commission for Redevelopment Services, whose purpose is to engage a highly qualified real estate developers or redevelopment team to envision the future design of two county-owned lots at the corner of DeKalb and Airy Streets, was passed. Prior to the vote, Mr. France gave a short presentation on the preparation of the RFEI and the associated assessment reports. The reports can be found on the county Engage Montco site . They are quite exhaustive and long. These documents cover the architectural surveys, geotechnical, civil feasibility, and environmental studies of the site. They were prepared to give a developer a real idea as to what they might be getting into. It was also noted in Mr. France's comments that tours will be given to any applicant who might be interested in going through. That is not to say that the public would be denied, but I would suspect they might cite insurance reasons as to why someone from the general public could not go through.

The RFEI will be placed on their bidding site, the Bonfire system, and anyone who is a developer or redeveloper usually has access to that site and can apply there up until April 15, 2025. I suspect it will be posted shortly as Mr. France said it would be by Monday.

This is exciting news and one we have been waiting for. The next step, according to Mr. France will be public meetings to review what the submissions have suggested and the ones the County deems desirable. We look forward to that.
