The next Commissioner meeting for speaking about the prison will be held on Thursday, February 22 at 10am. As usual, it will be at 425 Swede St, 8th floor. You can attend online by registering at this link. https://zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_ZJ2VQWo2Qmm659oneKepXg or come in person.

The topic of our comments will be to try and convince the commissioners that their application for both demolition and Historic Architecture Review Board (HARB) review need to be withdrawn. As you may remember, they simply put it "on hold" and then Norristown Council gave it a timeframe of six months back in November. Their original request to demolish and the HARB applications have changed if they are serious, and intended to save the original, and iconic. warden's house (the castellated portion). For one thing, their request for demolition should be restated for partial rather than full. This adjustment also changes the HARB application not simply due to the saving of the front portion, but whatever adaptive reuse they decided after the Request for Information (RFI) is looked at, along with any studies that will be part of the RFI process.

And speaking of the RFI, it has come to our attention that the County Planning Commission is working on that submission and assures us that it will be out in the next few months, "due to other work that must be done that will enhance the potential of success with the RFI."

If you are so inclined, please forward your comments to the Commissioners at commissioners@montgomerycountypa.gov sign up to speak at the meeting. We need to keep the pressure on so they know we are serious.
